The most common application of the Vitacom teleport is to provide satellite connectivity from a remote location to the US Internet backbone. The Vitacom teleport has fiber connectivity to the Internet, and in turn by uplinking and downlinking a satellite signal to the remote location, then that remote location is connected to high-speed Internet. Vitacom is currently providing this service to ISP's as well as private companies. Circuits can be set up to run with the same transmit/receive data rates (symmetric) or with asymmetric transmit and receive data rates.
International Data Circuits
Vitacom can provide direct connectivity from corporate headquarters to remote sites located in Latin America and/or Africa. Typically a customer will connect the Vitacom teleport to the corporate headquarters via a dedicated terrestrial data circuit. Vitacom will install a VSAT earth station at the remote location(s), providing the customer with end-to-end connectivity. Vitacom will provide all of the equipment with no capital cost to the customer, simply one monthly fee covers all equipment and service.
Vitacom can also provide voice connectivity at the teleport hub, to provide voice termination for the customer. This connectivity can be provided via dedicated voice lines or with IP-voice.
